Surgery clinics

We offer a range of clinics and services at the surgery. There are some tasks you can do, such as health reviews, using our online forms.

We offer a range of services including:

Maternity care

The antenatal clinic is on Tuesday mornings, 9:40am to 11:30am. In an emergency, please phone 01722 336262 and ask for the on call midwife for the wilton team. For non urgent queries please phone 01747 856 713.

Contraception

A full range of contraception options including IUCD (coil) and implant insertion are available at the surgery.

Children’s health

We provide child health clinics, where you can pop along to have your child weighted and/or obtain advice the HV. These clinics are available for all children up to school age. The clinics are held on the 2nd Thursday of each month, drop-in between 2:30pm and 3:30pm.  The health visitor can be contacted on 0300 247 0090.

Child Immunisation clinics are held weekly at the surgery.

Child health surveillance

All children are seen at six weeks by the doctor and at eight months by the health visitor for developmental assessment. You will receive a card when your child is 1, 2 and 3 years old inviting you to contact the health visitor if there are concerns about your child’s development. All children will be invited for a vision check at 4 years old.

Health screening

Within surgery hours we are happy to undertake well person, diabetes and cardiac care, hypertension, vascular screening and minor surgery.

Counselling

Counselling is available through Wilts IAPT. They can be contacted on 01380 731 335

Physiotherapy

You can self refer for Physiotherapy , there is no need to see a doctor beforehand.

District nurses

If you need advice about whether you are eligible for this service, please ask one of the GPs or the practice nurse who can refer you.

Mammography

Patients in the age group 50-70 will be called for mammography every three years. Patients beyond the screening age may contact the screening unit on 02380 794 959 to request continued screening.

Minor surgery

Simple skin lesions, skin cancers, moles, cysts and blemishes, as well as most joint injections, are dealt with routinely in the practice without the need to attend hospital and endure long waiting lists. We have a very well equipped treatment room where these services are carried out quickly and efficiently.

Blood pressure home monitoring

You will be asked to provide a refundable cash only £10 deposit for the loan of a blood pressure machine from the practice. This will be returned to you in full when you return your blood pressure monitor after the 7 days loan period.

Monitoring your blood pressure at home can give a more accurate picture of your blood pressure as you go about your everyday life. This will help to give the doctor/nurse a more accurate picture of your blood pressure over time.

Please read all instructions before starting:

  • Please monitor and record your blood pressure at home for 7 consecutive days. Readings should be recorded to be submitted via the form given to you. Download the BP reading sheet (Word)
  • On each day, monitor your blood pressure on two occasions, in the morning and again in the evening
  • On each occasion take a minimum of two readings, leaving at least a minute between each

Taking your blood pressure

  • Push your sleeve up comfortably
  • Before you take your readings, rest for five minutes
  • Make sure your arm is supported and that the cuff around your arm is at the same level as your heart
  • Put the cuff on following the instructions that came with your monitor
  • Take two readings, each about two minutes apart, and then note the lowest reading
  • Record your reading on the form provided
  • Return your readings and BP monitor if borrowed to Reception
  • Deposit is returned to you

Your results will be averaged and reviewed by a GP. If you have not heard from the surgery within 7 days, please contact reception.

Non-NHS services

Some services provided are not covered under our contract with the NHS and therefore attract charges. Examples include the following:

  • Medicals for pre-employment, sports and driving requirements (HGV, PSV etc.)
  • Insurance claim forms
  • Passport signing
  • Prescriptions for taking medication abroad
  • Private sick notes
  • Vaccination certificates

The fees charged are based on the British Medical Association (BMA) suggested scales and our reception staff will be happy to advise you about them along with appointment availability.
